Hypnotherapy & How It Can Help

Hypnotherapy is a safe and gentle therapeutic modality used to facilitate emotional and behavioural change. It's basically a version of psychotherapy using targeted suggestion techniques. Preliminary studies have shown changes in the brain's Default Mode Network with the use of hypnotherapy, which suggests that it can be useful in changing habitual thinking and behaviour. Also, many studies on the use of hypnotherapy for treating gut issues (such as IBS), as well as certain pain conditions, have consistently shown positive results.

You can be assured that hypnotherapy is not mind control – you remain in control and can’t be made to do anything that goes against your morals and ethics. You choose what you want to achieve, and the therapist uses specific language patterns and therapeutic tools to help you achieve this.

One such tool is the use of storytelling. Storytelling is universal. It’s how we pass on knowledge, history, cultural and family traditions, beliefs, and how we entertain each other. It’s how the amazing things we create begin, in the imagination as a story. We tell ourselves the story of our lives - who we are, where we come from, who we want to be. We can utilise this natural human ability to create actual changes in our lives, and hypnotherapy can help facilitate this.

Please be assured that we will only ever go at your pace. These sessions are individual to you. For issues involving past trauma, we will work on establishing emotional safety prior to undertaking any therapeutic techniques.

In my experience, long-term success is most likely achieved by those who incorporate the strategies learnt in sessions, including mindfulness practices, into their everyday lives. We will come up with ways to make this as easy and convenient as possible.
